5 Smart Things to do Before Going Through Airport Security:

1. Organize Documents & Boarding Pass – Keep your passport/ID and boarding pass handy (not buried in your bag) so you can quickly show them. After you show them, put them away in your carry-on before your carry-on luggage goes through the luggage belt.

2. Prepare Electronics & Liquids – Take out laptops, tablets, and liquids (in a clear quart-size bag, 100ml max each) so they’re easy to place in bins. Check with our country’s regulations on liquids and what’s allowed in carry-on luggage.

3. Empty Pockets & Remove Accessories – Put coins, keys, belts with metal buckles, wallets, watches and mobile phone in your carry-on ahead of time to avoid setting off alarms. As well, this helps to prevent anyone from quickly walking away with your valuables at the other end of security belt if they are just placed in the bin.

4. Wear Security-Friendly Clothing – Slip-on shoes and minimal jewelry make the process much faster.

5. Hydrate Smartly – Finish or empty water bottles before the checkpoint; you can refill an empty bottle once inside.
