Prepping Your Phone for Vacation Photos
Gone are the days of packing a camera and rolls of film. Now, your phone is likely your main camera, so before you head out on vacation, make sure it's ready to go. This is for iPhone users.
Security First
First, secure your device. Set up a passcode and Face ID to protect your iPhone. It's also a good idea to prevent thieves from disabling your ability to track a stolen phone. To do this, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and toggle off the Control Centre option. That way, someone can't swipe down and turn on Airplane Mode from your lock screen.
To make sure you can still find your phone if it's lost, go to Settings > Your Name > Find My, and ensure all options are turned on.
Backups & Storage
Make sure your photos are safe by backing up your device before you leave. To free up space for new memories, offload photos from your phone, and delete large file attachments that you no longer need. Check your storage and consider buying more iCloud storage if you need it.
Optimize Your Settings
A few tweaks can help you take more photos without draining your battery or using up all your data.
Turn off Live Photos: Live Photos use more storage and battery. To permanently turn them off, go to Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings and make sure Live Photo is toggled off.
Disable photo uploading on cellular data: To save data and battery, prevent your phone from uploading every photo to the cloud the moment you take it. Your photos will still upload automatically once you connect to Wi-Fi.
Before your next trip take some time in advance to made sure your phone is ready to take new memories.
